Tualatin -- Today Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, Everytown Survivor Fellow Doreen Dodgen-Magee, Oregon Youth for Gun Reform member Natalie Khalil, and Governor Kate Brown highlighted the common sense gun safety measures passed under Governor Brown’s leadership and the agenda moving forward to continue to make our communities safer.

“It’s really important to my peers and I, and our fellow Oregonians, to recognize that Kate Brown is one of the seemingly few leaders that is listening to me. Truly listening,” said Oregon Youth for Gun Reform student, Natalie Khalil. “She led the effort to pass universal background checks, to close the domestic violence boyfriend loophole, to require Oregon state police to maintain a database of firearms transactions, to pass an extreme risk protection order keeping guns out of the hands of those who are a danger to themselves and others.”

“Our Oregon values are on the ballot this November. Gun violence is a public health crisis. Everyone has the right to be free from gun violence. Our communities and our homes and our synagogues and our churches,” said Governor Kate Brown. “Your voices really do matter, and you can absolutely make a difference.”

“It’s time to stand up for what’s right, it’s time to have courage, we must do something, we must stop gun violence. Protect our children, our future, let them lead the way. Make our country a safer place, a better place. Do you have the courage to fight? Stand with me. Vote, vote, vote! In this campaign your voice matters,” exclaimed Congresswoman Gabby Giffords.

Over 80 supporters turned out to pack the Tualatin Community Park and listen to Congresswoman Giffords and Governor Brown.
