Governor Kate Brown closed tonight’s “Debate for Oregon’s Future” on KOIN 6 TV with the following statement:

“Actions speak louder than words. I am running for re-election because I know that by working together we can build a better Oregon. Under my administration, we have the lowest unemployment rate in Oregon’s history.  But you know what? There are too many families struggling to make ends meet, and a lot of seniors worried they’re going to lose their homes. I’m the only candidate in this race with a track record of bringing Republicans and Democrats together, urban and rural Oregonians together, to tackle the problems facing Oregon.

We need to invest in education, not cut our teachers’ retirement, and invest in education in a way that all of our children can graduate from high school with a plan for their future and the tools to compete in a global economy. We need to make sure that everyone in Oregon has access to health care, especially our children. Now is not the time to go backwards -- we have to keep Oregon moving forward. I’m asking for your support and your vote again in November.”
