Portland -- U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D - MA) announced her official endorsement of Governor Kate Brown on a phone call with nearly 100 Oregon activists tonight.

“I’m proud to stand with Kate Brown, a lifelong fighter for working families,” Sen. Warren told the group. “We need Kate Brown to represent the people of Oregon now more than ever, and we need local activists like you to step up and make sure she wins in November. That means talking to your neighbors, knocking on doors, making phone calls, and doing whatever you can to help get out the vote for Kate Brown and local candidates who will fight for progressive values and policies.”

Sen. Warren praised Gov. Brown as a leader who fights for working families on a number of core issues, including successful efforts to raise the state’s minimum wage, ensure a fair work schedule, guarantee paid sick leave, protect healthcarecoverage for Oregon families, and enshrine Roe v. Wade’s reproductive health protections into state law.

The action call also featured Melissa Unger, Executive Director of Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 503, an organization of more than 65,000 Oregonians, and Reyna Lopez, Executive Director of PCUN (Pineros y Campesinos Unidos del Noroeste), the largest Latino union in the state of Oregon. Both underscored how important grassroots activists are in winning elections, and encouraged participants on the call to sign up to volunteer atKateBrownforOregon.com/volunteer.
